So awesome and the food is great it's the top place in Maui for sushi it's worth everything even the drive
Knowing some of the history of Makawao, it should not be too surprising to have found a Sushi/Ice Cream/Deli in the heart of this old town ― but that is exactly what we found and it was quite nice. We stopped in on a hot day and had sushi and ice cream, bought a couple of gift items, and took a breather.
Why not five stars? It was a wee bit pricey for what we got. My unagi hand roll was $7.50 and not all that big. Also, the service was just so-so, not really friendly, but adequate. The woman who was working was fine, but seems tired.
This is our favorite sushi on the island! The fish is always super fresh. It seems to have more dimension in flavor compared to a normal sushi place. The atmosphere is nice, and simple. Never too crowded when we've been there. The service is lovely. Going to order some to-go right now!
A quaint place with good sushi in the heart of makawao town. The service is a bit slow but order some miso soup as an appetizer to hold you over while you wait.
WARNING - Aloha killing service ahead! They asked us to give up our table 5 minutes after we sat down to eat ice cream with our two young children. For a better experience drive to Paia for gelato instead! Hands-down worst experience at a store/restaurant in 6 trips to Maui. Note to staff: If you don't want people to eat what you sell at your store don't sell ice cream at diner time!
FOUR STARS are still great in my book and also means that we will have no hesitation to come back again!
