Service was good. People are friendly. Speed was mediocre, took about 40 minutes to be seen. Spent little over an hour doing vehicle registration. Clean place.

I grew up on the mainland, on the east coast, basically the epitome of bad DMV's. So this place was a breeze for me! The people were super friendly and I only waited like a hour tops. Came out faster than expected with my new shiny ID!
This DMV needs help. The automatic ticket machine was broken. Only two of three teller windows were open. 50 people waiting to be seen. The staff couldn't answer my questions. All I wanted to do was pay my vehicle tax. They said because I was late in paying my vehicle tax I needed to turn over my license plates. What? WORST DMV experience on Maui.
Staff training is something they really need. When I had moved there all the DMVs give you the run around. One lady told me that one proof of resident worked, next day the other lady told me it didn't work. Today, my boyfriend goes in and is told that the Pukalani doesn't train and to go to the Kahului location. He did not inform my boyfriend that all offices are closed today. At all. This is why Maui will never be its own island, you are apart of America so start acting like it. This is 2016. They are so small minded with very little education. I am just so happy to be back in California where things actually happen. Make sure you have two days to train these people because clearly they all need to learn a thing or two. Half the time they don't really give a damn about your troubles and that's something they need to learn and to work with people. Not treat them like they don't matter. This is why your island is failing. Sooner than later it's going to be overrun and I can't wait for the day I see non locals working there.
